My hands have always been central to who I am. They’ve shaped my career in pedorthics and shoemaking, and they’ve allowed me to express myself as an artist.

This piece is about that relationship between making and meaning—how the same hands that build and create also hold the people I love. I gave a cast to each of my daughters and my niece as a way to share that connection with them.
